# Cruise Port Transfer Guide

Cruise days are not the time to improvise transport in Athens. Athens serves two main cruise ports — Piraeus and Lavrio — and navigating either with luggage can be chaotic, especially during peak cruise season. Here's how to make it effortless.

## Who This Is For

Best for cruise passengers with luggage, same-day flights, families and groups, and anyone with limited time in Athens. Whether you need a port-to-hotel transfer, port-to-airport, airport-to-port, or a port transfer combined with sightseeing — we handle every combination daily.

## Piraeus Port — What to Know

Piraeus is enormous, with 12 departure gates spread across several kilometres. Cruise ships typically dock at gates E11 or E12 at the far end. Getting from the ship to central Athens (10 km) takes 30–50 minutes by car. Taxis queue at the gates but availability fluctuates with multiple ships docking simultaneously.

## Lavrio Port — The Southern Alternative

Lavrio is located 60 km southeast of Athens, near Cape Sounion. Several cruise lines — including Celestyal and occasional Royal Caribbean sailings — use Lavrio as their home port. The port is much smaller and quieter than Piraeus, but public transport connections are very limited — making a private transfer essentially the only comfortable option.

## Why Book a Private Port Transfer?

With a private transfer, your chauffeur meets you right at the terminal exit with a name sign — no searching for taxis or negotiating fares. You'll travel in a comfortable Mercedes with full air conditioning, and your driver can take you directly to your hotel, the airport, or even stop at the Acropolis along the way.

## Combining Port Transfers with Sightseeing

Many cruise passengers have only one day in Athens. Instead of a simple transfer, consider an Athens highlights route: port pickup → Acropolis & Parthenon → Plaka lunch stop → return to port. It's the most efficient way to experience Athens during a port call — though this remains first and foremost a transport service, with sightseeing as a bonus.
